‘We never give up’: Hardik Pandya vows to fight back as pressure mounts on new MI skipper

Pandya has been criticised heavily since taking over the reigns from Rohit Sharma, with crowds booing the new captain and ex-cricketers criticising his captaincy.

Hardik Pandya has endured a tough start to his second stint in Mumbai Indians colours. Pandya was brought on from Gujarat Titans and was made the captain. However, MI have got on to a torrid start, losing their first three games. Moreover, Pandya has been subject to booing from the crowds and criticisms from ex-cricketers on his captaincy. Pandya on Tuesday took to social and vowed to fight until the end in a stern message for haters.

Pandya had huge acumen as a skipper since becoming the captain at Gujarat Titans. In their first season, Hardik Pandya led the Titans to an IPL trophy in 2022. In the second season too, Pandya and co. reached the finals of the IPL, but lost out to Chennai Super Kings.

Naturally, when Pandya was announced as the captain of Mumbai Indians, there were a lot of expectations from him. However, those expectations seemed to be rising up in smoke with Pandya being heavily criticised for his bowling changes, field placings and batting order.

Fans’ message to Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya on Tuesday took to X (formerly Twitter) to reiterate his belief in the MI team. Pandya posted a picture of the Mumbai Indians team and claimed they will not give up. He promised to fight until the end along with his team.

His caption read, “If there’s one thing you should know about this team, we never give up. We’ll keep fighting, we’ll keep going.”

Mumbai Indians next take on Delhi Capitals at Wankhede Stadium on April 07, Sunday.
