We have waited long for this: Ravichandran Ashwin’s parents send heartfelt message after 500 feat

India’s veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin scripted history on Friday as he became the fastest Indian bowler to claim 500 Test wickets. The off-spinner reached the milestone after claiming the wicket of England’s Zak Crawley on Day 2 of the third Test in Rajkot.

Social media was flooded with congratulatory messages after the special achievement. From Sachin Tendulkar to Anil Kumble, all lauded the veteran spinner for completing the feat.

But the special message came from Ashwin’s parents who sent a heartfelt message for their son completing a special milestone.

“Very happy Ashwin. In spite of all the hurdles and everything, you did it. Go ahead, do it well”, Ashwin’s father said in a video on JioCinema.

“Hearty congratulations for the special feat of 500 Test wickets. We have been waiting for this for quiet long time and it’s a special feat. It is a special moment for the entire family. I wish you all the best for a wonderful journey in life”, Ashwin’s mother said.

I dedicate this 500th wicket to my father: Ashwin

Talking after the day’s play, Ashwin dedicated his 500th wicket to his father and said that his father has been a constant support for him in his career.

“It’s been quite a long journey,” Ashwin said after Day 2’s play in Rajkot. “I’d like to dedicate this 500th wicket to my father. He’s been through the thick and thin of everything I’ve done in my life. He’s had heart attacks every time I’ve played. His health has gone for a toss because he’s watched games of mine on TV constantly and been a constant support for me. 500 wickets, done and dusted now”, the off-spinner said.
