Team India’s T20I stand-in skipper Suryakumar Yadav, in a pre-match press conference, said that he is not concerned about team’s lack of T20I matches before the T20 World Cup 2024 next year.
Notably, Team India have just 6 more T20Is to play before the start of the T20 World Cup in June.
When asked if India’s limited T20I matches will be an issue going into the T20 World Cup, the 33-year-old said that 14 matches in IPL will also help players prepare for the ICC tournament.
“Yes we have limited T20I but we will also have 14 matches in IPL [IPL 2024]. Players have played a lot of games, they have a lot of experience under their belt. So we don’t think there’ll be an issue”, Suryakumar Yadav said in press conference ahead of IND vs SA 1st T20I in Durban.
Surya added that everyone in the team know their responsibilities well and the team is in right direction for the World Cup.
“Everyone knows their role really well knows their responsibilities really well, how they play in different situations”, the 33-year-old added.
Team India will kickstart their tour to South Africa with a 3-match T20I series, starting on December 10 in Durban. The Men in Blue are coming into this series with a comprehensive 4-1 win over Australia at home.
