Team India’s T20I stand-in skipper Suryakumar Yadav is not worried about the lack of a sixth bowling option in the absence of Hardik Pandya ahead of IND vs SA 1st T20I on December 10 in Durban.
When asked if he and head coach Rahul Dravid had a discussion on India’s sixth bowling option, the 33-year-old said that the team has a sixth bowling option and it will be used in a “perfect situation”.
“We have 6th bowling option. We have players who can bowl. When the perfect situation will come, you will see them. Not just 6 it could be even 7-8 bowlers”, Suryakumar Yadav said in the pre-match conference ahead of IND vs SA 1st T20I.
SKY was also quizzed about team’s opening combination for the first T20I, however, the Indian skipper did not give a peep into it and said they will take the final call after practice session today.
“We have the combination in mind. We know who are going to open tomorrow, and perhaps, will take a final call after the practice session today”, Suryakumar added.
Suryakumar was asked about the mantra for success for batters on the fast pitches of South Africa. In response, Surya said that the players have practiced for the challenge.
“The experience of playing in India is different. However, Indian players are prepared for fast pitches. Everyone has played such cricket. Confidence among players has increased from the T20 series against Australia. Hopefully, we will win the series here as well”, the 33-year-old added.
