Team India have got off to the worst possible start in the IND vs SA 2nd T20I when openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill fell for ducks.
After being put to bat, Team India lost the first wicket on the third ball of the innings as Jaiswal got out on a 3-ball duck after his cut shot went straight to David Miller at backward point.
Shubman Gill couldn’t trouble the scorer as well as the Indian opener was adjudged LBW off Lizaad Williams’ delivery in the 2nd over.
Notably, this is the second time that an Indian opening pair fell on ducks in a T20I match. Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane were the first Indian opening duo to depart on ducks in T20I, doing so in 2016 against Pakistan.
Shubman Gill’s struggle in T20Is continues
Another cheap dismissal has put doubts over Shubman Gill’s place in the Playing XI. The 24-year-old has just one fifty under his belt in last six innings.
With Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan knocking the door for the T20 World Cup 2024 opening spot, Gill’s consistent failure in the shortest format will surely put the star Indian opener under some pressure.
