In a thrilling PSL 2024 encounter on Sunday in Karachi, Mohammad Wasim Jr. of the Quetta Gladiators hit a six off the final ball of the run chase against Shaheen Shah Afridi of Lahore Qalandars to provide his team with a six-wicket victory and send them to the playoffs.
Gladiators needed four runs on the final ball of the game to win, while Qalandars only needed one dot ball. At the stumps, Shaheen delivered a length delivery. With the ball deep in his crease, Wasim Jr. cleared his front leg, swung hard across the line, and hoisted it over the deep forward square leg for a huge six to win the game.
This came as somewhat of a surprise because Wasim Jr isn’t known for his batting ability and it came against Shaheen Afridi. It was made even more memorable because that shot was part of the winning cause. Not only did Wasim’s last-ball heroics propel his team into the playoffs, but they also eliminated Karachi Kings from the competition.
