Pakistan cricket team’s wicketkeeper Muhammad Rizwan brought up his maiden ODI World Cup century in the PAK vs SL World Cup game at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Hyderabad on Tuesday. Chasing a mammoth 345, Rizwan reached the three-figure mark in 97 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes. The 31-year-old had to bat through cramps to reach the milestone.
Notably, Rizwan is the first Pakistani No.4 in 4 years to score an ODI century. This is also the first ever World Cup match where four centuries were slammed. While Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama slammed tons for Sri Lanka, Abdullah Shafique and Muhammad Rizwan scored hundred for Pakistan in the game.

Mohammad Rizwan’s unbeaten century has put Pakistan in control of the chase of 345 runs. Abdullah Shafique also scored his maiden ton and stitched a 176-run partnership to rescue Pakistan who were struggling after losing two early wickets. The youngster departed on 113. Earlier, centuries from Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama powered Sri Lanka to 344/ 9 in 50 overs. Opting to bat first, Mendis smashed 122 runs while Sadeera scored 108.
