India’s star batter Virat Kohli got a big reprieve when he was dropped on 12 in a low-scoring thriller at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai during IND vs AUS World Cup clash. Team India, who were reeling a 2/3 at one point, breath a sigh of relief when Mitchell Marsh dropped a crucial catch of the former Indian captain. The video of the dropped catch has already gone viral on social media.
The incident unfolded in the 8th over of the Indian innings. Josh Hazlewood bowled a short ball that took Virat Kohli by surprise. Kohli top-edged it, sending high in the air. While it looked like the end of Kohli’s innings, luckily, the ball landed between Mitchell Marsh, who was charging in from mid-wicket, and the wicketkeeper Alex Carey. In the end, it was Marsh who got his hands to the ball, but dropped the catch.

Both Virat Kohli and KL Rahul have steadied India’s innings after early jolts. Both players are nearing their respective fifties. Earlier, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood struck early to reduce India to 2/3 in chase of 200. Talking about India’s bowling, Ravindra Jadeja was the pick of the bowler as his 3/28 combined by contribution from Kuldeep Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin helped India bundle out Australia for 199 in 49.3 overs.
