Superstar batsman Virat Kohli struggled in India’s first innings against Australia in the World Test Championship final at the Kennington Oval. On Day 2 of the WTC Final, Kohli was removed after hitting 14 runs.
Kohli came in to bat with India behind at 30 for 2 after opening batsman Shubman Gill was dismissed. Along with Cheteshwar Pujara, the 34-year-old made a cautious start. The two batters put on a 20-run stand before Pujara was run out in the 14th over by fast-bowling all-rounder Cameron Green.
Kohli then put up a 31-run stand with Ajinkya Rahane before being sent out by bowler Mitchell Starc with a peach of a delivery. Kohli was undone by Starc’s superb off-cutter. The ball bounced fast, catching Kohli off guard and sending an edge to Steve Smith in second slip, who had to stretch to make an excellent overhead catch.
