India is returning to Windsor Park, Dominica, after a long wait of 12 years. Since that last tour, only two members of the touring party have returned after more than a decade. The India Tour of the West Indies in 2011 saw Virat Kohli make his Test cricket debut and play alongside current head coach and Indian legend Rahul Dravid. In a video released by the BCCI on their social media account, both former Indian captains can be seen reminiscing about Kohli’s first series as a Test player.
“You know, I think Virat was the only one who was there when we came back here in 2011,” said Dravid on playing the 3rd Test of the 2011 India tour of the West Indies in Dominica.
“I remember Virat, you know. It was his first series with the Indian team, and he was this young kid and he did well in one-day cricket and was just finding his feet a little bit in Test cricket. You could see there was some special talent out there, and you could see he was going to be around for a while. How long? You could never say. So, he could be very proud of his journey,” the head coach further said, talking about Virat Kohli’s debut series and his first impression of the Delhi cricketer.

“When we went to the dressing room and we went to practice, I kind of remembered my first series here as a test player, and this is the country where it all started. It is just amazing to be able to come back here 12 years later, having played more than 100 test matches. I would have never imagined anything like this”. Virat said on his return to the same venue after a long wait of 12 years.
Virat Kohli then talked about meeting Rahul Dravid as a debutant and how he looked up to him.
“I was his teammate at one point; he was a senior, established test player who we all looked up to. It is quite amazing. I told Rahul bhai as well yesterday, I’m sure you would have never imagined that 12 years later we will come back to the same venue and you’ll be head coach, and I would have played more than 100 games. No one would have guessed that one”.
Virat then talked about how fate has brought the two together after more than a decade.
“I’m blessed that we are the only 2 members from the last trip still here in different capacities, but yeah, it is like life has come full circle and the journey has been amazing”.
