With a match-winning knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad, former Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli not only helped his team win by eight wickets but also cemented his mark on cricket by scoring a record-breaking sixth IPL century. The 34-year-old had an adorable moment after the game when he was spotted face-timing his wife Anushka Sharma on video call after helping RCB win the crucial match against SRH. Watch the video below. Anushka was full of praise for her husband’s performance as she posted a story on Instagram cheering the RCB opener for his blazing 62-ball century. A viral video of Virat chatting to Anushka on video call just after he scored his record sixth IPL century showed the on a video chat shortly after the record-breaking innings.
Speaking of the game, Virat Kohli put on an outstanding performance that made him the centrepiece of the match even though Faf du Plessis had scored 71 runs and Heinrich Klaasen had previously scored a century to help Sunrisers Hyderabad to a total of 186/5.
Du Plessis opted to bowl first while the other SRH hitters struggled apart Klaasen who hammered a century and went on to score 104 runs in 51 balls before Kohli and Du Plessis put up an opening partnership of 172 runs to win the game for the Sunrisers.
The victory against Sunrisers is a significant stride for RCB in their quest for qualification and assures that their fates are almost entirely in their own hands: if they win their last league game at home against Gujarat Titans, they will almost certainly advance.
But if RCB loses, Mumbai must also lose, and they must also pray that none of the other teams on 14 exceed them in NRR. In order to overtake Punjab Kings (assuming first-inning totals of 180), Rajasthan Royals (0.140) just need to defeat them by ten runs.
