What better way to celebrate a milestone than by busting a move mid-inning? After reaching his second consecutive fifty in the IPL 2024 season, Virat Kohli decided to dance in joy between overs. With his side at 134/3 after 15 overs and a big chance of posting a huge total on the board, the star RCB decided to let loose.
Having gone past MS Dhoni’s record of 239 sixes and reached his fifty just a couple of overs ago, the animated batter couldn’t resist and instinctively busted a move.
Virat Kohli would have gotten egg on his face if he had fallen after his little move on the pitch. But, luckily for him and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, he carried the bat. The batter made sure they went past the 180-run mark. Having lost Glenn Maxwell, Rajat Patidar, and Anuj Rawat in quick succession, his presence in the middle helped them get to a good total.
Virat Kohli ‘anchors’ RCB to 182
Having opened the batting alongside Faf du Plessis, it was clear that Kohli’s responsibility was to hold the inning together. On the ‘new’ pitch at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, the competition between bat and ball has become more equal. With Faf, Cameron Green, and Maxwell all taking on the role of aggressor, Kohli decided to take the backseat.
He upped his strike rate after Maxwell fell. The batter was then aided by Dinesh Karthik towards the end of the inning to take the side to 182.
