Despite being an aggressive player on the field, there is a reason why Virat Kohli is so well respected by everyone. Four years apart, Virat Kohli has done the exact same thing against his rival. In 2019 World Cup, India vs Australia game, Indian fans were booing Steve Smith. But Kohli intervened and stopped the crowd not to do so. On Wednesday, in a repeat of the same incident, he asked his home crowd at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium to not boo and chant against Afghanistan’s Naveen Ul Haq.
The Afghan pacer picked up a fight with Virat Kohli during IPL 2023 match between Lucknow Super Giants vs Royal Challengers Bangalore. The heated exchange did end on the field between the two players. But it continued on the social media platforms with Indian fans not leaving any opportunity to troll Naveen Ul Haq.
However, Virat Kohli and Naveen Ul Haq reconciled. The Indian legend hugged the Afghan pacer to end it for once and all. With that, Kohli not only showed great sportsmanship but also character.
After the match, Naveen Ul Haq said, the two dusted off what happened in IPL.
“He is a nice man, a great player. We just shook hands and dusted off what happened in the IPL,” Naveen Ul Haq said as per RevSportz.
In 2019 World Cup, Virat Kohli did the exactly that. When Indian fans were booing Steve Smith, Virat Kohli ran to the crowd and urged them to stop booing Smith.
“Instinctively I told them not to boo you because you were fielding there (on the boundary) for quite a bit. As much as you play against each other there’s a human side to things as well and at the end of the day we’re here chatting now, we do have a chat a few times during the IPL as well,” Virat Kohli later said during an interaction with Steve Smith.
