Rahul Tripathi ensured CSK got off to a stunning start in their clash against the Lucknow Super Giants on Monday. Opting to field, the MS Dhoni-side struck in the very first over, with Khaleel Ahmed getting the better of Aiden Markram.

CSK’s campaign is in dire straits and the five-time champions needed something inspirational to pull them back into the season. On Monday, Rahul Tripathi provided that in the very first over, with a fine show of judgment and skill at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
Aiden Markram, the in-form LSG batter, tried to smash Khaleel Ahmed off the final ball of his over. However, a leading edge saw the ball fly over, with Tripathi running back to take a spectacular catch. The Maharashtra superstar did well to keep his eyes on the ball, even while sprinting to cover ground and complete the catch. Watch it here:

CSK on Road to Redemption?
Tripathi’s effort was exactly the kind of start Chennai Super Kings needed after winning the toss in Lucknow. Having lost their last 5 games, the now MS Dhoni-led outfit has a task on their hands to recover and be in contention for the IPL 2025 playoffs. With Lucknow’s top order flying high, an early dent in the proceedings could very well turn the game in CSK’s favour. Markram before his innings against CSK, had scores of 53, 47 and 58 in his last three IPL 2025 innings.
It turned out to be the case as the visitors soon followed up with the wicket of the dangerous Nicholas Pooran. The LSG batter was caught in front of his pads by Anshul Kamboj and a smart review by MS Dhoni saw the left-hander walk back to the pavilion. It was only the third game this season that CSK struck more than once in the powerplay. Their first instance handed them their only win of the season over Mumbai Indians, while the other game saw them go down to a scintillating Priyansh Arya hundred.
