T20 World Cup‘s triumphant India side landed on New Delhi early morning on Thursday amid rousing reception. India won the T20 World Cup after 13 years in Barbados when they defeated South Africa by 7 runs in the final.
Following the final, the Indian cricketers, their families and support staffs were stuck in Barbados. A hurricane resulted in the delay. Flights were cancelled, airports were closed as the Indian contingent left stranded. However, BCCI arranged for special flight to bring Rohit Sharma and co home.
Grand reception for Team India on arrival
The flight landed in New Delhi at around 6.20 AM IST on Thursday. There was a gathering of a huge crowd to welcome the world champions. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who was one of the first to come out of the airport, lifted the T20 World Cup trophy in the air after coming out of the airport. His action was met with loud roars from the crowd present at the airport.

It was a sight to behold as hundreds queued up at the airport in the early hours of the morning to get a glimpse of the much coveted trophy.
What’s next?
The Indian team is supposed to meet PM Narendra Modi in New Delhi for breakfast. After the interaction, the team will fly to Mumbai where they will have an open bus parade to display the trophy.
