WATCH Stunning pictures of ICC World Cup trophy placed in front of iconic Taj Mahal

The World Cup Trophy tour started on June 27 and is on its way to cover 18 countries around the world

It is a matter of debate whether the Indian cricket fans would be able to see the sight of Indian Cricket Team lifting the ICC World Cup 2023 trophy come 19th November. For now, the much coveted silverware is in India for the next leg of the trophy tour. Pictures of the trophy placed in front of the iconic Taj Mahal caught the attention of the cricket fans all over the world.

The ICC Men’s World Cup 2023 trophy tour started in a grand fashion. In a first, the trophy was launched into the stratosphere, 12,000 feet above the earth. Later, It made a dramatic landing at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad.

This was made possible by attaching the trophy to a bespoke stratospheric balloon. Fans were greeted to some stunning shots of the trophy sitting on the edge of the Earth’s atmosphere from 4k cameras.

The tour started on June 27 and is on its way to cover 18 countries around the world in three months. The countries include Kuwait, Bahrain, Malaysia, USA, Nigeria, Uganda, France, Italy, the United States of America and the host country India. The tour provides an unique opportunity for cricket fans around the world to interact with the trophy before the tournament begins in India.

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is set to begin from 5th October. The Men in Blue will start their World Cup campaign with a match against Australia in Chennai on 8th October. The most awaited fixture between India and Pakistan will be held on 14 October at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

On the launch of the Trophy Tour on June 27, ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice had said, “The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Trophy Tour is an important milestone in the countdown to what will be the biggest ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup ever.”

“This Tour will see the iconic silverware meet heads of states, launch community initiatives and support cricket development programmes in addition to visiting some of the most iconic landmarks around the globe.”
