WTC Final 2023: Steve Smith once again turned out to be a nightmare for the Indian fans but this time with his fielding effort. The senior Australian batter took an absolute screamer at the slip to get rid off Virat Kohli who missed out a fifty by one run. Scott Boland, who got his second wicket after dismissing Kohli, added one more to his tally as he scalped Ravindra Jadeja in the same over.
Requiring 280 runs to win on Day 5, Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane started confidently. However, Australian bowlers, particularly, Scott Boland, was persistent with his line and lengths. He reaped the reward for his discipline and got rid off Kohli and Jadeja in the same over. Earlier, Boland got the wicket of Shubman Gill owing to a controversial catch by all-rounder Cameron Green.
Kohli was playing well for his 49 runs which included seven boundaries. It was beginning to look like that the Indian batting line-up might repeat the antics of Brisbane in 2021. However, Aussie pace bowling line-up is now all over the Indians and it will take a miracle from India to hold Australia from getting their hands on another ICC trophy.
