Watch: Shan Masood falls victim to ‘controversial’ decision in PAK vs BAN 1st Test

Pakistan lost Babar Azam soon after the baffling decision, and if not for the partnership between Saim Ayub and Saud Shakeel's partnership, Pakostan could have been in major trouble.

In his first match as Pakistan Test captain at home, Shan Masood fell victim to a controversial decision. Bangladesh pacer Shoriful Islam bowled a great delivery, but the wicket caused controversy rather than a celebration. Having lost Abdullah Shafique in the fourth over of the PAK vs BAN 1st Test, the Pakistani captain walked in as they looked to recover.

Shan Masood, out or not?

Masood, however, played just 11 balls. The left-arm quick delivery of a ball that jacked back seemed to have clipped either the pad or bat on its way to the keeper. Bangladesh celebrated, but on-field umpire Adrian Holdstock shook his head in disagreement.

Najmul Hossain Shanto signaled T and sent the decision upstairs. The ball was awfully close to the bat, and a split second after it passed, the replay showed a spike of the UltraEdge. It looked like the ball hit the pad, but the third umpire, Michael Gough, didn’t think so and adjudged it out.

Masood and the whole Pakistan dressing room were shocked as the Bangladesh team celebrated getting the big fish and having Pakistan two down in no time.
