Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi was in top notch form in the ongoing PAK vs BAN World Cup match being played at the Eden Gardens. During his spell, Shaheen Afridi bowled a ripper to dismiss Bangladesh senior batter Mahmudullah Riyad. Meanwhile, the commentators compared Afridi’s delivery with Wasim Akram’s ball that he bowled to England’s batter Allan Lamb in the 1993 World Cup final.
Shaheen Afridi finished with 3 wickets in PAK vs BAN
To note, Mahmudullah was batting exceptionally well on 56 runs as Pakistan skipper introduced Shaheen for his second spell to make something happen. Shaheen Afridi did not disappoint Babar as he bowled beautiful delivery angled to the on-side before rattling the stumps leaving Mahmudullah bamboozled.
Apart from that wicket, Shaheen scalped two more wickets including Najmul Hossain Shanto and Tanzid Hasan. He bowled a total of nine overs giving away just 23 runs including a maiden as well.
Apart from Shaheen, Haris Rauf (2), Mohammad Wasim Jr. (3), Usama Mir (1) and Iftikhar Ahmed (1) were the other wicket-takers for Pakistan. “Yeah, brilliant as a bowling unit. The wicket was very slow. We bowled wicket-to-wicket and got success. We stayed with that plan,” said Haris Rauf in mid-innings break.
Yeah, it was reversing a bit. As a bowling unit, we discussed our plans and hit the stumps regularly. When it is reversing, you need to hit the stumps. Shaheen is a class performer. When he takes wickets with the new ball, we are happy, and the opponents will be under pressure. Thank You,” he added,
