Watch: Sanju Samson hits towering six to send warning signs to selectors ahead of IND vs AFG series

Power hitter Sanju Samson hits towering six, aims comeback in T20I squad for IND vs AFG series

It is no surprise that Sanju Samson is power hitter. The Rajasthan Royals showcased his brute strength to hit a towering six at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Such was the intensity of the six that it landed on the roof the ground, bouncing a couple of times before dropping into the fences.

Such a powerful hit will surely work wonders for Samson. The dependable batter is vying for a regular spot in the team, and such an antic will surely make him a big contender for the upcoming IND vs AFG T20I series.

After the India tour of South Africa series, India turn their attention to the shortest format of the game. India are set to face Afghanistan for a 3 match T20I series on home soil as their last preparation ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup. While the Men in Blue won’t play any more T20Is after this series, there is however the mega IPL 2024.

But the dynamics are quite different for Sanju Samson. The RR skipper is yet to be deemed as a regular in the India squad in T20Is. And With the World Cup fast approaching it is now do-or-die scenario for him. The Kerala batter who was snubbed in the Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup squad now has to try his best to make it to the T20 World Cup squad.

Sanju Samson continues his fitness and training at the NCA in Bengaluru. He will surely be a part in the IND vs AFG series but Samson needs to continue his red hot form in IPL 2024 to get his chance in the T20 World Cup squad.

Samson will target the number 5 anchor spot for the Men in Blue in T20Is. With SKY playing at 3 or 4, and Rinku Singh as the designated finisher, Samson will have to target the keeper’s spot.
