A captain who led from the front, walking the talk and taking the team to within touching distance of glory, Rohit Sharma was heartbroken after the loss in World Cup final. Almost a month after the loss to Australia, India captain Rohit Sharma has finally broken his silence with a message to the fans, recounting what he felt. But there is also a promise: Another ultimate prize with a hint at return to T20 World Cup 2024.
Listen to what the tragic hero has to say.
“After the final, it was very hard to get back and start moving on, which is why I decided that I need to get my mind out of this. But then, wherever I was, I realised that people were coming up to me and they were appreciating everyone’s effort, how well we played. I feel for all of them. They all, along with us, were dreaming of lifting that World Cup, along with us,” Rohit Sharma said.
Rohit Sharma went into an exile of sorts, vanishing from social media platform after the final. He said he wanted to take some time off and go away to spend some time with his family. Rohit and his family went to the UK for a vacation after that to clear his mind.
While BCCI refused to clear the air on his future, India captain now has. He will play another world cup in June. This one will be his last shot at redemption.
