Divine blessings have been sought by the past and present captains of the Indian cricket team ahead of important fixtures and tournaments time and again. Rohit Sharma on Tuesday became the latest addition to the list when he was spotted visiting the Tirupathi Balaji temple in Andhra Pradesh along with his spouse and daughter.
Rohit’s visit to the holy place comes barely a fortnight before the start of Asia Cup 2023 where India faces arch-rivals Pakistan in yet another high-voltage match between the two neighbours.
In a video on social media, Rohit can be seen walking towards the temple with wife Ritika and daughter Samaira behind him.
The crowd, seeing the Indian captain, went berserk and the law enforcement personnel had a hard time controlling them as everyone lined up to catch a glimpse of Rohit.
As soon as the video went viral, fans started sharing their reaction on social media.
While some fans claimed Rohit was copying his predecessor Virat Kohli (remember Kohli visiting Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain in May this year?), others hoped the holy spirit will make runs flow from Rohit Sharma’s bat again.
Rohit breaks silence on Tilak Verma
Rohit Sharma has had his say amid calls by experts to include Tilak Verma, who has been in red-hot form, in the One Day team for the upcoming World Cup.
Although Rohit, the experienced cricketer, did not disclose his own strategy for the World Cup, he showered the young player with praise.
“He looks very promising. I have seen him for two years now, he has got the hunger, and that is the most important thing,” Rohit said. “In him I can see, for the age that he is of, he is quite matured. He knows his batting so well. When I speak with him I understand that the boy knows his batting – where he has to hit, what he has to do in that period.

“That is all that I will say about him, I do not know about the World Cup and all, but definitely the guy is talented and he showed it in these few games that he has played for India,” he added.
