Watch: Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant play with Kite that halts play during DC vs MI

Delhi had earlier closed on 257/4, with Jake Fraser-McGurk top-scoring with an incredible 84 off just 27 balls.

Cricket pitches never cease to astound with their exceptional bowling and batting, but occasionally, unplanned interruptions steal the show as well. When the Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians squared off in Match 43 of the IPL 2024 on Saturday afternoon at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, something similar occurred.

The Kite affair

When Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan arrived to pursue a massive 258 target against Rishabh Pant’s Delhi Capitals, an incident took place. A kite suddenly appeared to halt play during the opening over of Lizaad Williams’ bowling debut.

After Mumbai Indians opener Rohit picked it up, he handed it to Rishabh Pant, who continued the tradition by giving it to the leg umpire after playing with it for a while.

DC flying higher than the kite

Delhi had earlier closed on 257/4, with Jake Fraser-McGurk top-scoring with an incredible 84 off just 27 balls. With additional helpful contributions from Pant, Tristan Stubbs, and Shai Hope, their side easily passed the 250-run threshold.

Latest News on IPL

Mumbai Indians are struggling to chase the huge total at the moment, and have currently lost batters Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav.

Although Pant could not fly the kite as much as he would have liked, Delhi Capitals are surely flying high at the moment.
