WATCH Rohit Sharma lose cool after Shardul’s poor fielding in IND vs WI 1st ODI

Shardul Thakur's lethargic fielding effort in the 19th over cost India an extra run which left Indian skipper Rohit Sharma furious.

Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur’s poor fielding effort cost Team Indian an extra run during IND vs WI 1st ODI on Thursday. The incident took place in the 19th over of the innings when Shai Hope drives Kuldeep Yadav’s delivery wide of Shardul at mid-off. While it looked two runs at first, but Shardul Thakur’s casual run allowed the WI skipper to sneak a third run which left Rohit furious.

Rohit came up with an animated angry reaction and angrily shouted at Shardul for the poor effort.

Notably, this is not the first time that Rohit has angrily called out fielders for poor effort. Last year, Mohammed Shami also suffered the wrath of Rohit’s anger after a horrendous fielding effort during T20 World Cup semi-final against England.

A similar incident happened in IPL 2023 match between MI vs GT where Piyush Chawla’s poor fielding cost Mumbai four runs which left Rohit fuming.

Kuldeep Yadav (4/6) dismissed Shai Hope, Dominic Drakes, Jayden Seales and Yannic Cariah, while Ravindra Jadeja (3/37) took the wickets of Shimron Hetmyer, Romario Shepherd and Rovman Powell.
