Rohit Sharma is quickly becoming a vibe. The Indian skipper is known to wear his heart on his sleeve and express his emotions as he pleases. Unlike India’s former skipper Virat Kohli, Rohit is more agitated than aggressive on the field. The opener did something similar on Day 1 of the India vs England 4th Test in Ranchi.
After sending half of England’s side to the pavilion, the Indian cricket team seemed to be on top. However, Joe Root and Ben Foakes consolidated things in the middle. The duo had put up an 85-run stand, which had started to frustrate Rohit Sharma and India.
Then, in the 60th over, Ravindra Jadeja rapped Ben Foakes on the pads. As the whole Indian team appealed, the umpire deemed it not out. However, unconvinced skipper Rohit sent it upstairs. With the tension building up, the cameraman decided to focus on Rohit instead of the big screen for the DRS, which agitated the Indian skipper.
Seeing himself on the big screen, Rohit Sharma urged the cameraman to show the big screen rather than keep the focus on him. Unfortunately for him, the review did not go India’s way, and England went on to score 302 runs on the first day while losing just three more wickets.
Rohit was agitated in the India vs England 3rd Test as well when youngsters Sarfaraz Khan and Yashasvi Jaiswal decided to walk back to the pavilion, thinking the Indian skipper had declared.
