After Sachin Tendulkar announced the last Best Fielder award, the Indian cricket team’s fielding coach, T Dilip, has reverted to his old ways. After Rohit Sharma & co. gave a heavy thumping to South Africa in Eden Gardens, T Dilip praised players like Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul. However, none of those were awarded the medal. Instead, Dilip took the team downstairs to reveal who would receive the fielder of the match award.
As the whole team came down, a robot car with a camera on it came towards the team. The camera then started revolving 360 degrees before stopping at skipper Rohit Sharma. That is when the whole team mobbed skipper Rohit in excitement, which almost led him to fall down.
Then, Rohit was presented with the award by Shreyas, who had won the award in the IND vs SL on November 2.
After Rohit claimed the award, fielding coach T Dilip joined him and emphasised that the medal is not given for catches or run-outs. Instead, the idea is that the group (15-man squad) deserves to get the award. Each member of the squad has to make an impact and work together as a unit.
