WATCH: Richard Kettleborough doesn’t give a clear wide to allow Virat Kohli score a century

Richard Kettleborough's action won Indian fans hearts who called the English umpire the "GOAT".

It was another Virat Kohli show as the star Indian cricketer smashed his 48th ODI century to help Team India chase down 257 comfortably in IND vs BAN to register their 4th consecutive win in World Cup 2023 on Thursday. Kohli brought up his ton in 97 balls with a six. However, his run scoring from 80 to 100 was nothing short of a drama. The one incident that stole the limelight at the end was Richard Kettleborough’s decision that played a part in Kohli’s century.

With 2 runs needed to win, Kohli, who was on 97, was looking for a boundary to reach the milestone. However, Nasum Ahmed bowled a delivery down the leg side which looked an obvious wide. However, umpire Richard Kettleborough didn’t signal it a wide, which left even the Indian dressing room surprised. Richard smirked a little when he saw the replay. Kohli then finished the game with a six over deep mid-wicket and completed the ton.

Talking about the game, India started the chase in tremendous fashion as Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill stitched a quick 88-run partnership before Rohit got dismissed on 48. Shubman Gill (53) and Kohli (103*) then carried on at the same pace to push India to win. Earlier, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja claimed two wickets apiece as India restricted Bangladesh to 256/8 in 50 overs.

Team India will now travel to Dharmshala to face New Zealand on October 22.
