WATCH: ‘Pacer’ Rahul Dravid bowls during rain-break in IND vs SA 1st Test

Team India head coach Rahul Dravid last toured South Africa back in 2006-07.

Team India head coach Rahul Dravid was seen bowling at the SuperSport Park before the start of play on Tuesday (December 26). The former India captain bowling with the red ball amused the commentators standing on the sidelines.

Rahul Dravid and South Africa share a very old connection. Rahul Dravid last toured the Rainbow nation back in 2006-07 as Sreesanth bagged an 8-wicket match-haul in Johannesburg to hand India a 123-run win. But the visitors lost the next two games and the series as well.

Speaking about the IND vs SA 1st Test, South Africa won the toss and had no hesitation in bowling first. Openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal fell early. Shubman Gill also failed to get going with the bat.

Shreyas Iyer and Virat Kohli added 67 runs for the fourth-wicket partnership of 67 runs but Rabada knocked over well-set Iyer (31 off 50) in the opening over of the second session. Soon, the Proteas pacer removed Kohli (38 off 64) and Ravichandran Ashwin (8 off 11) to reduce the visitors to 121/6 in 35 overs.

KL Rahul and Shardul Thakur added 43 runs for the seventh wicket, with the latter taking a few body blows as well. Thakur (24 off 33) was eventually dismissed by Rabada as the speedster claimed his 14th Test five-wicket haul as well as his 500th international wicket. Before the start of the last session, team India managed to score 176/7 in 50 overs with KL Rahul still on the crease for his 39 runs.
