Watch out: Suryakumar Yadav ‘warns’ franchises about Riyan Parag storm heading their way in IPL 2024

Having been playing the league for the last 6 years, Parag has been a consistent failure for the Rajasthan Royals, but given the youngster's immense talent, he has been continuously backed.

All the faith the Rajasthan Royals (RR) have shown in Riyan Parag is finally paying off. The talented 22-year-old has been playing in the IPL since 2019 but hasn’t shown he’s been rated so highly. With an average of 18 and a strike rate of 127, the right-handed batter was a serious underperformer prior to the IPL 2024 season.

However, it seems like Parag has turned a new leaf. After an impressive 43 in the last match, the batter scored his 4th fifty in the RR vs DC match. With no batter even crossing the 30-run mark, Parag smacked a 34-ball half-century and announced himself to the world. Experts and fans are gobsmacked by the sudden change in the batter, but Suryakumar Yadav, the world’s No. 1 T20I batter, isn’t surprised.

This stunning 84-run knock consisted of 7 fours and 6 sixes, and the batter scored 60 runs from the last 21 balls he faced. From 36/3 in 7.2 overs, he took his side to 185/5. Riyan Parag scored 25 runs alone off the final over of the first inning, that too against South African premier fast bowler, Anrich Nortje.
