WTC Final 2023: Star Indian batter Ajinkya Rahane sat down for a rapid-fire session with the BCCI.TV ahead of India’s World Test Championship Final 2023 match against Australia. In a short 37-second clip posted on BCCI’s Twitter handle, Ajinkya Rahane can be seen answering various questions. The most interesting part of the short snipped, however, is when Rahane is asked, “Who is his favourite travel partner in the team when in the UK?” to which Rahane replied his former Mumbai teammate and Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma. Rahane snubbed Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara, two batters with whom he has shared the pitch the most during his Test career.

Rahane was asked several questions, the first one being ‘his favourite ground in England’, to which the middle-order batter replied ‘Lords’, where he made a memorable century (103) in 2014, which resulted in a famous victory for India.
Rahane revealed Southampton as his favourite city in England and also revealed what his day off in England looks like. Jinks said that the best way to enjoy a day off in England would be to go out with his family (his wife and kids) and sit in the park.
Rahane form coming into WTC Final
Rahane is coming into the all-important final with a great performance in the Ranji Trophy season and a great IPL 2023 campaign that ended with a title. Rahane scored 634 runs for an impressive average of 57.43 and made two centuries as well. He also had a rejuvenated IPL season with Chennai Super Kings, making 326 runs from 14 matches and striking at a mind-boggling 172.49.
However, the biggest reason behind his selection is his experience in the longest format of the game. With 82 Test caps to his name, great composure, and leadership qualities, Rahane is the perfect player to turn to in the absence of Pant, Iyer, and KL Rahul in the dressing room.
