Watch: No feud! Rohit Sharma enjoys Holi celebrations with Mumbai Indians teammates

Rohit Shrma who led MI to 5 IPL titles was replaced by Hardik Pandya as the captain ahead of IPL 2024

The Mumbai Indians camp is going through a major turmoil. From the opening loss to the aftermath of the sudden change of captaincy, the camp’s mood is very gloomy to say the very least. However, Rohit Sharma paused to partake in Holi’s joyful festivities alongside his Mumbai Indians teammates as they looked to relax ahead of their second game. Despite a spirited effort, Mumbai Indians suffered a defeat in their IPL 2024 season opener against Gujarat Titans, falling short by 6 runs on Sunday.

Amidst the intense schedule and high-stakes encounters, this celebration provided a welcomed respite, revealing the lighter, more colourful side of these athletes. Mumbai Indians shared a brief clip capturing Rohit Sharma gleefully spraying water from a pipe, his face adorned with vibrant colours.

Titled “Happy Holi, everyone! Brb, the admin needs to get the phone repaired,” the video shows a joyful Rohit engaging in playful revelry.

How was Rohit Sharma’s first game under Hardik Pandya?

The spotlight for the GT vs MI clash was all on Rohit Sharma, who took the field for the first time as a key player and not a captain after handing the duties to Hardik Pandya. Rohit exhibited promising form during MI’s clash against Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Despite the early dismissal of Ishan Kishan, Rohit showcased his prowess, crafting a resilient 43-run innings from 29 balls, embellished with 7 fours and a six. His innings were curtailed by left-arm spinner Sai Kishore, who dismissed him LBW.

Following Rohit’s departure, MI found themselves requiring 62 runs from 47 balls with 7 wickets in hand. However, the team faltered under pressure, ultimately falling short of the target, finishing at 162 for 9. Despite Hardik Pandya’s late heroics with a six and a four off Umesh Yadav’s bowling in the final over, it wasn’t enough to secure victory for MI.

Cold war in MI dressing room?

While the Holi celebration was a much a refreshing sight to the intense atmosphere in the MI camp, a cold war seems to be brewing in the MI dressing room. A considerable amount of tension was completely evident during and after the match, indicating a potential split among the squad. Rohit’s reactions to Hardik’s on-field decisions, as well as Jasprit Bumrah’s body language, suggest underlying dissatisfaction. Furthermore, Rohit and Bumrah were spotted having an active discussion in the dugout, sparking speculation regarding internal tensions inside the MI camp.
