Lucknow Super Giants were in a difficult spot when Pooran walked in to bat. LSG needed 56 off 27 balls when Marcus Stoinis departed. The left-hander started off with a bang, hitting a hat-trick of sixes of Abhishek Sharma. Pooran then slammed a couple of boundaries of Bhuvneshwar Kumar to put his team in control. He then smashed a six off Natarajan to almost seal the game. Pooran batted for 13 balls, and hit three fours and four sixes to seal the game.
Highest strike-rate in an IPL inningss (min. 10 balls faced)
- 346.15 – Kieron Pollard (MI) vs DC, Brabourne, 2010

- 316.67 – Chris Gayle (RCB) vs KKR, Bangalore, 2011
- 306.25 – Yuvraj Singh (PBKS) vs RR, Mohali, 2008
Pooran is LSG’s designated finisher and has delivered on his promise. He smashed the second fastest fifty in IPL 2023 against RCB earlier this season. On Saturday, he once again got his team over the line with his hitting prowess.
As for Sunrisers, they will look back on their former player with a pinch of regret. While Heinrich Klaasen has performed well, Pooran was the difference between victory and defeat tonight. He was bought for 10.75 Crore in IPL 2022 Auction, but released before IPL 2023.
