How CSK toppled MI on Sunday

CSK toppled MI by 20 runs to win their first away game of the IPL 2024 season. After being put to bat first, CSK posted up 206/4 on the board. While skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad top-scored with a 69, Shivam Dube continued his stellar form and made a quick-fire 38-ball 66*. However, it was Dhoni’s blitzkrieg that stole the show, as he clubbed 20 runs off four balls.

MI started their chase on a great note, scoring 70 off seven balls. While Rohit Sharma looked in superb touch, none of the other MI batters went past the 35-run mark. For CSK, Matheesha Pathirana’s return proved to be spectacular, as he bowled a match-winning spell of 4/28. Pathirana, alongside other CSK bowlers, varied their pace and bowled into the pitch to stifle MI’s chase.

In the end, even Rohit Sharma’s century couldn’t prevent CSK’s rout over MI. While Chennai now have eight points and are on third place, Mumbai are still with only two wins after six games.
