Dhoni is known for his patriotism. He did not wear the Indian flag on his helmet as he had to put it on the ground every now and then. He is also a big fan of the Indian Armed Forces.

He had also worn the army’s insignia during the World Cup in 2019, which also raised eyebrows. In what proved to be his last ODI against Australia in 2019, at his native Ranchi, he had the entire team wearing a camouflage cap. This was in recognition of all the victims of the attack at Pulwama and the Indian Armed Forces.
