IPL 2023: LSG vs MI: Mohsin Khan’s final over heroics helped Lucknow Super Giants beat Mumbai Indians by 5 runs at Ekana Cricket Stadium on Tuesday. With Mumbai needing 11 runs off the final over, Mohsin didn’t concede a single boundary and gave away just five runs to snatch the win from MI’s grasp. The 24-year-old gave away 3 singles, 2 dots, and a double in the final over to win it for the home side. The pacer ended up with figures of 1/26 in 3 overs. David-Green vs Mohsin – How it all unfolded?

Young Mohsin was given the big task of defending 11 runs in the final over against Mumbai’s attacking duo of Tim David and Cameron Green. David, who smashed 19 runs in the previous over, was at the non-striker’s end.

19.1: DOT! Mohsin bowled an off-cutter on the middle and leg which Green only managed to hit it back to the bowler.

19.2: Single! Mohsin bowled another length ball in line of the stumps which Green managed to hit to deep midwicket.

19.3: Single! Mohsin bowled full this time on the outside off stump which David could only slice it to deep cover.

19.4: DOT! Mohsin bowled a perfect yorker outside off stump which Green failed to dig out.

19.5: Single! Mohsin nailed yet another yorker outside off which Green could only dig it out towards cover.

19.6: Double! Mohsin went for a slower full-ball delivery outside the off stump, which David only managed to get off the inner half through square leg.

Earlier, Marcus Stoinis’ brilliant 89-run knock powered LSG to 177 for 3 in 20 overs. LSG were 35 for 3 at one stage but Stoinis and Krunal Pandya (49) guided the team with a solid partnership.

After the match, Mohsin dedicated the win to his father who got discharged from ICU on Monday.

“I was injured and it was a tough time. I am happy to bowl and my father was in the hospital in the ICU and he was discharged yesterday and I am hoping he is watching. Today I played for my father. He was hospitalised and is out now. Thanks to the team and support staff for having faith in me.”

With this win, Lucknow Super Giants has jumped to third place with 15 points and has set one foot in the Playoffs. Meanwhile, Mumbai will have to win their final game against Sunrisers Hyderabad to secure a Playoffs spot.
