Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj was left unhappy and threw the ball in anguish as Steve Smith aborted to face a ball right when Siraj was about to bowl a delivery. To note, India and Australia are taking on each other in the final encounter of the WTC 2023 Final.
At the start of Day 2, Smith was batting on 95 as the senior batter reached his 31st Test century with the help of two back-to-back boundaries off Siraj. On the fourth ball of the over, the batter moved away from his stumps before the ball was delivered due to some issue with the spider cam. However, it did not go down well with the pacer. The fast bowler finished his run-up and just threw the ball in the stumps’ direction.
Eventually, Smith was removed by all-rounder Shardul Thakur as he stroked a fabulous 121 off 268 balls as he went on to stroke 19 fours. With this century, Smith reached third in the list for most centuries for Australia. The right-handed batter went ahead of two premier Aussie batters including Matthew Hayden and Sir Don Bradman.
