Alyssa Healy shows husband Mitchell Starc ‘who’s the boss’ in playful banter

Australia Women have won the first ODI and will look to seize the series today.

Australian power couple Mitchell Starc and Alyssa Healy engaged in a playful conversation involving Kimmy Garth during the AUS W vs SA W 2nd ODI at the North Sydney Oval. Australia won the toss and opted to bowl first.

Mitchell Starc, discussing the performance of the opening pair, Nadine de Klerk and Marizanne Kapp questioned whether Australia could have bowled slightly fuller to exploit the wicket better. He noted the cache taken by Alyssa Healy for Kimmy Garth while dismissing de Klerk but suggested that a fraction fuller length might have led to more edges.

“So the length of the opening pair there, and Kimmy Garth, do you reckon they could have bought a fraction fuller with the help of the wicket? You got the catches there for Garth. But, you know, it was holding length and she bowled, really disciplined lines and lengths, but maybe a fraction fuller to get in those edges.” said Starc.

His wife Alyssa Healy, however, had the most playful reaction to his criticism. Responding to Starc’s observation, sarcastically acknowledged the possibility of being more critical in hindsight.

“I think if we’re being highly critical, you’re suggesting then. Yes, potentially. Um, Kimmy Garth could have come maybe a fraction fuller, but that is the natural length that she likes to hit. And that’s, uh, that’s her role within our team as well, to get the ball moving and keep it tight down that end as well. I think she does. Length, uh, it was pretty natural as well.” said Healy.

“So yes, if we’re being ultra-critical, maybe. But uh, in saying that, I think, um, they did a great job to, to hold as well.”

Starc interjected humorously, questioning whether the conversation was turning into a critique of the commentary rather than the bowling performance.

“Is this bowling or critical of the commentary? I don’t know” Mitchell Starc concluded with a laugh, Leading the series 1-0 Australia women would look to secure the tie at North Sydney oval. Howver, a rain delay has put a halt to the game.
