Jasprit Bumrah: Jasprit Bumrah is leaving no stone unturned towards making a roaring comeback to the Indian team. The pacer is currently at National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru and sweating it out in nets. The 29-year-old is also bowling close to eight to ten overs a day and is all set to make a comeback during the T20 series against Ireland. Bumrah posted a video on social media of himself bowling in the nets, hinting at a potential comeback.
A call on the premier pacer’s selection during Ireland series will be taken by the Ajit Agarkar-led selection panel.

After being out of action for nearly a year due to back injury, Bumrah’s rehabilitation is going well. However, BCCI selectors are in no mood to rush the pacer back into the Indian team as last time it paid the price as the 29-year-old missed T20 World Cup, Border Gavaskar Trophy, and WTC Final. With Asia Cup and ODI World Cup 2023 around the corner, BCCI this time are not going to take any risk whatsoever with Bumrah’s fitness.
Jasprit Bumrah: Bumrah likely to be fit for Ireland series, as the pacer eyes full fitness
After successfully undergoing back surgery in New Zealand, Bumrah is on the verge of completing full rehabilitation at NCA. With he bowling 10 overs a day, the BCCI are happy with his fitness. However, the D-day for the 29-year-old will be the practice matches at NCA. If Bumrah bowls at full throttle with consistent line and lengths, then the Ireland series would be ideal for him to make a comeback.
“For an injury of this nature, it is not wise to set any timeline as constant monitoring is necessary. But Bumrah is recovering well, and he has bowled seven overs at NCA nets. It is a steady increase in his workload from the light workouts and bowling sessions of the initial period. He will play a few practice matches (at NCA) next month, and there will be a close assessment of his fitness then,” a source tracking the development told PTI earlier this month.
Bumrah’s return to the Indian team will be a massive boost during Asia Cup and World Cup 2023. Not only express pace, but the pacer’s ability to bowl at death overs will prove to be a factor against big teams.
