WATCH: Jake Fraser-McGurk breaks AB de Villiers’ record, slams fastest ton in List A cricket

Jake Fraser-McGurk slammed a 29-ball century in a domestic one-day match and broke AB de Villers' record.

Australian cricketer Jake Fraser-McGurk slammed a 29-ball century in a domestic one-day match between South Australia and Tasmania on Sunday. The 21-year-old broke former South Africa cricketer AB de Villers’ record of fastest century in List A cricket.

Fraser-McGurk reached the three-figure mark in the eighth over, surpassing the record of AB de Villers who slammed a 31-ball ton against the West Indies in 2015.

The South Australian batter smashed a half-century in just 18 deliveries which is an Australian one-day domestic record. He then added next 50 in just 11 balls, including taking 32 runs off one over.

Jake Fraser-McGurk said he was surprised with his knock.

“I went out there with some good intent, had my plans and process, and seemed like everything went my way,” he was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.

“I’ve made a few 30s playing in twos and stuff, felt like I’ve been hitting them reasonably well but probably not that well so definitely surprised myself”, the batter added.

The 21-year-old opener scored 125 off 38 balls, with ten fours and 13 sixes before getting dismissed. However, Jake Fraser-McGurk’s stunning knock ended in a losing cause as South Australia failed to chase down 436 and fell short by 37 runs.
