World Number 1 batter in ODIs Babar Azam faltered in a crucial IND vs PAK tie in the Asia Cup. Tasked to chase a huge target of 357 runs set by arch-rivals India, Babar had to come to the crease early after Imam-ul Haq was dispatched. But the Pakistani skipper’s stay in the crease was short when Hardik Pandya scalped Azam with a gem of a delivery.
Babar Azam’s Dismissal
Hardik Pandya cleverly set up Babar Azam for a perfect dismissal. After two outswingers, Pandya bowled the third ball as an inswinger that was a bit short of a length. But it was the fourth ball that was inch-perfect and completely baffled the Pakistani skipper.
A mega inswinger caught Babar Azam by complete surprise. Bit short and pitched on the off, the ball took a devilish inswing. With a stark difference between the bat and the pad, the ball went through the gates to hit and dislodge the bails.

Despite being the Number 1 batter in ODIs, Babar’s outing against India has not been great. Out of the 7 innings he has played against the Men in Blue, he doesn’t have a fifty against the arch-rivals. Today was also a big opportunity for him to score but he faltered.

Babar remained in the pitch for 24 balls where he managed to score 10 runs which also included 2 boundaries. After his dismissal, Mohammad Rizwan was the new batter on the crease.
But then the rain played spoilsport, as the drizzle increased in intensity. The players immediately returned back to the pavilion as the covers were immediately brought in. Pakistan now faces a big task to chase down the huge target set by India. If the overs get reduced as per the DLS method then Pakistan will have a massive target to chase.
