It seems like all is not well in the Mumbai Indians (MI) camp. Following the sudden removal of Rohit Sharma as the franchise’s captain in December last year, they have been bombarded with questions. While their head coach, Mark Boucher, had previously indicated that Rohit might play his last season with MI this year, now he and their current skipper, Hardik Pandya, have refused to answer questions about the captaincy switch.
Asked about the alleged captaincy clause in the IPL 2024 pre-season press conference, both Boucher and Pandya remained quiet. Upon their refusal to answer the first question, another journalist asked, What was the reason behind MI moving on from Rohit to Hardik? To everyone’s surprise, both remained quiet once again.
Hardik Pandya refuses to answer ‘tough’ questions.
It may not seem much that both the captain and head coach refuse to speak of delicate matters, but one has to question the lack of transparency. After Boucher earlier made some comments about Rohit Sharma’s removal, the franchise faced the ire of his fans, and his wife, Ritika Sajdeh, MI, quickly retracted their head coach’s comments.
Now, Hardik Pandya’s refusal to answer only fuels the fire. With people already claiming that there is a ‘rift’ among players, with some taking Rohit’s side while others backing Pandya, both the captain and coach staying mum on the matter doesn’t help.
