Watch: ‘Dr. Babar Azam’ helps injured Shaheen Afridi during AUS vs PAK 3rd ODI

Shaheen Afridi injured his thumb during the third ODI against Australia, but Babar Azam quickly helped him. Despite discomfort, Shaheen continued bowling as Pakistan dominated.

During the third and final ODI against Australia in Perth, Babar Azam became ‘Doctor Babar’ when Pakistan’s star bowler Shaheen Afridi injured his left thumb while trying to stop a throw. The incident happened in the 26th over when Sean Abbott hit a ball to deep mid-wicket. The fielder’s throw came in fast and Shaheen, at the non-striker’s end, tried to catch it, but it hit his thumb, leaving him in clear pain.

Babar to the rescue

Seeing Shaheen in pain, Captain Babar Azam quickly stepped in and pulled on Shaheen’s thumb to help ease the discomfort. The commentators feared that Shaheen might have dislocated his thumb, but Babar’s quick action seemed to help.

Shortly after, the team physio arrived, checked Shaheen, and thankfully ruled out any serious injury. A quick spray was applied, and Shaheen was ready to bowl again, though he was still a bit uncomfortable.

Pakistan’s bowlers shine

Despite his injury, Shaheen continued playing, which thrilled Pakistan’s fans. Pakistan’s bowlers were on fire, keeping Australia’s score low at 140 runs. Shaheen and Naseem Shah took three wickets each, while Haris Rauf and Mohammad Hasnain also chipped in. Sean Abbott was Australia’s top scorer, with Cooper Connolly retiring hurt.

Series decider drama

The series was tied at 1-1, with Australia winning the first game by 2 wickets, but Pakistan made a strong comeback with a 9-wicket win in the second match. In this final match, Pakistan’s bowlers did a fantastic job, showing their strength and determination.
