The incident occurred in the third over of the innings. David Warner punched Deepak Chahar through the covers and almost picked up a boundary only for Devon Conway to come in his way. Devon Conway made a superb sliding tackle in a leg-first dive to save two as he kicks it to his arriving partner. The crowd and the CSK fans were appreciative of his effort, putting his body on the line for his team.
Conway immediately gave off his most natural-looking fluency. In just the third over, he whacked Khaleel Ahmed for back-to-back boundaries, setting his intentions obvious. Gaikwad left the game after a light innings, while Conway kept on scoring from the other end, scoring 87 runs in just 52 deliveries. He appeared to be headed for a stunning century but decided to take the loss for his team in an effort to increase scoring in the final few overs.
