Watch: Kevin Sinclair drops backflip celebration after first Test wicket

The cartwheel celebration is not new to sports aficionados. However, this celebration is mostly seen on football pitches, with cricket grounds more used to stretched arm or fist-pumping celebrations.

On the second day of the first Test against Australia in Brisbane, West Indies off-spinner Kevin Sinclair produced a one-of-a-kind moment as he celebrated his maiden Test wicket of Usman Khawaja with a neat cartwheel. Sinclair, playing in his first Test, ended a strong partnership and dragged his team back into the contest. The dismissal came in the 48th over of the innings and marked a turning point in the match.

Australia were 24-4 at Dinner on the second day of the second Test in Brisbane, having bowled out the West Indies for 311. Sinclair, on debut, had hit a half-century and counter-attacked late in the innings to bring up his 50 with an over boundary off Nathan Lyon, getting out in the next delivery.

Sinclair went for quite a few runs when he came to bowl. He was hit for four boundaries in the space of three overs before he finally made the breakthrough.

Sinclair bowled round the wicket to Khawaja’s left-handed bat, lofting the ball high and finding a grip off the pitch to get Khawaja’s outside edge. Athanaze took an easy catch at first slip, giving Sinclair his first Test scalp.

Before shaking hands with his teammates, Sinclair performed a series of gymnastics. First, he completed a somersault, followed by a backflip. The celebration caught the fancy of cricket fans all over the world, with the video getting viral almost instantly.
