It is all high-flying action in the Big Bash League. And now the League has witnessed one of the most dangerous sports accidents of recent times. Cameron Bancroft and Daniel Sams suffered a horrific clash after trying to take a catch. The two players collided with each other and then had to be stretchered out.
Later on, it was revealed that both the players were breathing properly after having received immediate medical attention. The incident took place during the Big Bash League clash between Perth Scorchers and Sydney Thunder. Cooper Connolly tried to hit the ball hard but mistimed it as the ball took the aerial route.
Sams & Bancroft stable after massive clash
Tragedy befell when both Sams and Bancroft with eyes only on the ball clashed against each other while taking the catch. The fielders immediately started to run towards the players who were lying down on the field. Bancroft tried to get up as he had a bloody nose.
But Daniel Sams was in a very poor state. The impact of the hit saw him discombobulated and suffer a severe concussion. Physios and medical personnel immediately darted into the field to take a close look at the injured stars.
The game remained stopped at the Optus Stadium in Perth. The game was resumed after a 12-minute delay. Bancroft was able to walk off the ground but Sams had to be carried off in a stretcher.
