Watch: Ben Duckett gets standing ovation from Indian fans after whirlwind ton in Rajkot

Ben Duckett slammed 88-ball century in IND vs ENG 3rd Test to earn applauds of Indian fans in Rajkot even on a day when Ashwin enter 500-club.

In what was a knock to remember, Ben Duckett smashed the fastest Test ton by an Englishman in IND vs ENG 3rd Test in Rajkot. That England scored 207/2 in just 35 overs in a Test match was largely due to Duckett’s whirlwind unbeaten 133 off just 118 balls. After he Bazballed his way an 88-ball century, he even impressed the Indian fans at Rajkot. As Duckett was returning to the pavilion after the end of day’s play, Indian fans gave him a standing ovation.

Ben Duckett madness

After India slogged their way to 445 in the first innings, many thought that the Rajkot pitch would have slowed down a notch. But for Ben Duckett, it seemed to be a Day 1 batting pitch.

He took on Ravichandran Ashwin, reverse swept Ravindra Jadeja for a six, thrashed Mohd Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav. Duckett had 21 fours and two sixes in that blazing 133-run knock on Day 2.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan compared that knock to Ollie Pope’s 196 in Hyderabad.

“One of the incredible days of Test cricket. Ben Duckett’s was a special innings and up with Ollie Pope’s in the first Test,” Vaughan told BBC.

“If England bat the full day tomorrow they have a great chance. India will also know if they get three wickets in the first hour things change very, very quickly. It’s worth getting up at 4am to watch this England side,” he added.
