After a blockbuster knock on his Test debut, Sarfaraz Khan was given a special surprise by the BCCI. The debutant scored a 69-ball 62 to kick off his international career. However, his stay in the middle was cut short due to an unfortunate mix-up between him and Ravindra Jadeja that saw him run out.
After the match, BCCI surprised Sarfaraz Khan by arranging a call from his younger brother, Musheer Khan. While Sarafaraz got his maiden call-up before the second Test, Musheer was tearing it up in the Under-19 World Cup in South Africa. With both brothers piling up runs, it was only fair that Sarfaraz got a call from Musheer.
Sarfaraz can be heard asking his brother, “I was playing fine, right?” To which his younger brother replied, “Well played, bhai (brother). I thoroughly enjoyed it.”
Sarfaraz enthusiastically stated to his brother, “You will also represent India one day.”
Later in the conversation, Musheer revealed that he was worried while he was playing. He stated, “When you top edged the ball when playing that shot (sweep) to Joe Root,” However, Sarfaraz confidently said that the fielders were up, so the shot was definitely on.
Although Sarfaraz failed to get a century, he felt expert and commentator impressed with his stroke play. The debutant will potentially get another chance to bat in the India vs England 3rd Test and will look to make it count.
