After keeping Pakistan’s semifinal hopes alive at the ODI World Cup 2023, skipper Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman sat together to decode how the duo planned to chase down the mammoth total of 402. The video, which was uploaded by Pakistan Cricket, sees Babar praise Zaman and a hilarious quip between the duo about the senior statesman of their side, Iftikhar Ahmed.
Fakhar brought up Iftikhar, claiming he was telling him that the new will grip, while both players laughed as the pitch remained flat for the entirety of the match. To this, Babar replied, “In our whole team, he is the most experienced.”
Fakhar quickly quipped, “In the team or the whole management?”, to which both started laughing.
Then, on a serious note, Babar said, “Only two people can read the pitch: Misbah-ul-Haq and him (Iftikhar Ahmed).”
Fakhar refuted his skipper’s claim and said, “Whenever Ifti has claimed about how the pitch will behave, it has always been wrong“, as both started laughing once again.
The swashbuckling opener then went on to praise his teammate for the effort and work he puts in.

Iftikhar Ahmed jokes about Fakhar Zaman’s knock
Iftikhar has been known to joke about and take a mickey out of his teammates. The spin-bowling all-rounder did the same after Fakhar’s epic knock, using a famous viral meme to describe how the opener batted. Iftikhar, on his X (formerly Twitter) account, wrote, “So beautiful, so elegant, just looking like a wow!” while tagging the opener.
