Virat Kohli, who had amassed the most runs (20,396) in all of the international cricket during that time period, was also a member of the Indian side that won both the ICC CWC 2011 and the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013. It was not surprising for him to receive the Sir Garfield Sobers Award for ICC Male Cricketer of the Decade because he was also named ICC Cricketer of the Year in both 2017 and 2018.

Former cricketer Sir Garry Sobers represented the West Indies from 1954 to 1974. He is regarded as one of the best cricketers of all time and the sport’s finest all-rounder due to his prowess as a bowler, aggressive batsman, and brilliant fielder.

Sobers played 93 Tests for the West Indies in all, amassing 8032 runs at an average of 57.78 and 235 wickets at an average of 34.03 while scoring runs at a rate of 57.78.

He ranks fifth among cricketers with more than 5,000 runs in terms of batting average in Test matches. Sobers played in 383 first-class games, scoring over 28,000 runs and claiming over 1000 wickets. He later played for South Australia and Nottinghamshire.

In 1975, Sobers received a knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II for his contributions to cricket.
