Fans could be seen expressing their feelings over seeing Kohli and getting to take selfies with him in the video. In addition to Kohli, skipper Rohit Sharma, and the star batter Suryakumar Yadav also made an appearance to meet and interact with the fans.
Coming to the match, the Indian team’s decision to rest Rohit and Virat proved to be detrimental as their middle-order batters struggled to cope with the pace, bounce, and turn of the pitch, resulting in a disappointing total of 181 all-out in 40.5 overs. In response, West Indies endured a spirited performance from Shardul Thakur (3/42 in 8 overs) before their skipper, Shai Hope (63*), and young talent Keacy Carty (48*) put together an unbeaten 91-run partnership for the fifth wicket, sealing the victory in just 36.4 overs.
This win marked the end of West Indies’ streak of nine consecutive bilateral defeats since December 2019. The main downfall for India was their lackluster batting effort, losing five wickets for just 23 runs in a mere 7.2 overs after an opening partnership of 90 runs between Ishan Kishan (55 off 55 balls) and Shubman Gill (34 off 49 balls). Despite encountering two rain delays, the West Indies bowlers maintained their intensity throughout the game, showcasing an impressive display of skill and determination.
